Understanding Our Food System: Production

The food supply chain refers to all the steps needed to move food from production to consumption. Here at the Vision, we are asking for input from people engaging with all parts of our state’s food supply chain. 

Let’s zoom in on the first step, production:

🌱Production in the food supply chain is the initial stage where food is cultivated, harvested, or manufactured for consumption. 

🌱It encompasses activities like farming, fishing, and ranching. 

🌱After production, many foods move on to processing, but some, like fresh produce, often move directly on to distribution, retail, and consumption.
