How to Stretch Your Food Scraps This Month 💡

Simmering pot of vegetables for stock

Composting is great — but are there other ways to stretch your food scraps? Check out these ideas and tell us which one you’d like to try this month!

🥔 Save Your Veggie Scraps: Collect onion skins, carrot peels, and herb stems to make a hearty winter vegetable broth.

🍞 Revive Stale Bread: Transform it into croutons, breadcrumbs, or bread pudding.

🍎 Repurpose Apple Cores & Peels: Simmer into a fragrant apple syrup or make into vinegar.

🥬 Regrow Scraps: Lettuce, celery, and green onions can sprout again in a jar of water.

🍊 Use Citrus Peels: Combine 1 part citrus peels with 2 parts vinegar in a jar and infuse on the counter for 2-3 weeks for a homemade, natural cleaner.
